A practical accessory for distilling aromatic plants and for working with essential oils and hydrosols after distillation.

The separatory funnel is designed to separate liquids with different densities. It is especially useful after distillation for separating essential oil from the hydrosol and collecting them in different containers.

🌿 Separating Essential Oils and Hydrosols

After distillation, the essential oil and hydrosol can be separated according to their different densities. With many essential oils, the essential oil forms the upper layer, while the hydrosol remains below.

The stopcock at the bottom allows the hydrosol to be drained first in a controlled manner. When the boundary between the two liquids is reached, the stopcock can be closed, allowing the essential oil to be collected separately.

💧 This makes it easy to collect the hydrosol and essential oil in separate containers with good control and precision.

🧼 Cleaning and Maintenance

Clean carefully after use to prevent essential oil residues from remaining on the glass or stopcock.

It can be rinsed with alcohol suitable for cleaning laboratory glassware, followed by an appropriate rinsing procedure before its next use.
